The Motorola DS98080 is an innovative barcode and RFID scanner combination that can be used at a point of sale and scan tags of either type. It has a dual trigger with the upper part for barcode scanning of linear 1D barcodes like Code 39 or UPC, and 2d barcodes as well. The lower part of the trigger is for scanning RFID tags on garments or other products. The combo is beautifully designed and very easy to operate. Additionally, it can be programmed to pick up a UPC code from an EPC code that may be embedded in the RFID chip. This will then pass through in the same manner as a barcode, and the system operating at the point of sale will pick up the code price it and simultaneously decrement the inventory.
