Unitech's PA982 is amongst the most rugged and toughest mobile computers meant for mobile workers working in extremely harsh conditions. Its rugged keypad and crystal clear touch screen respond with and without gloves and deliver accurate results in extreme temperatures ranging between -22 and 122 degrees F.

The PA982 is suitable for all kinds of applications in areas like shipyards, cold storages, forestry and transportation industries. It is equipped with an internal intelligent heating system and this helps to cope with extreme temperatures, besides tolerating 1.2 meter drops, full dust protection and immersion in water up to 1 meter. Hence it has been given an IP67 rating. It also functions in poorly lit areas and there is no scope of errors in darker environments. Its stow away stylus, large touch screen with backlit alphanumeric keypad and function keys makes it convenient under all circumstances.

The connectivity of the PA982 is the widest, and works equally efficiently both indoors and outdoors. It comes with a Bluetooth and its PCMCIA slot eases the integration of WLAN or WWAN or even additional memory cards.

Thus it can be used for flexible data entry operations in warehouses, for stock control, retailing of foodstuff and frozen food transportation. Its double cell battery pack lasts up to 12 hours and can charge in 4 hours. Its second battery helps to extend its working hours for up to 18 hours. This is not in the least tiring for the user due to the ergonomic design of the PA982 and its add-on gun grip that comes with the integrated second battery.

The PA982 can be bought with either the standard or the long range integrated scanner. It can therefore be used for close scanning or from a forklift. Its PCMCIA expansion slot also provides the option of converting it into a dual technology laser scanning and RFID tag reading device.
