Symbol has introduced the DS3478 DPM scanner. This device offers the rugged exterior necessary for warehouse and distribution centers, while providing digital imaging for one and two dimensional bar codes. Its laser like capabilities offer increased production through quicker imaging technology. The Symbol DS3478 DPM unit comes standard with charge coupled image sensors (CCD) that provide companies with rapid processing.

A mobile worker can now scan items at an angle due to the omni-directional functionality. This alleviates the need for operators to line up bar codes. The Motorola DS3478 DPM scanner can scan bar codes of any size due to its smart focus technology. Along with one of the largest working ranges, this product can cover several needs at once.

A frequent problem with employees and scanners has always been the cable connected to the host. Not only is this a danger hazard, but also threatens productivity. Many concerns arise and may include reading malfunctions. Eliminating the cord allows the operator to be completely mobile without the worry of cable breakage or system failure.

The ruggedness of the DS3478 DPM barcode scanner tolerates intense scanning in an industrial environment. Symbol has conducted several drop tests analyzing the results of multiple tumbles from two meters high onto concrete. The results clearly indicate there is no change in performance and the IP-65 rated seal on the unit is immune to water and dust. The exit window is indented for elevated levels of durability and resists scuffs. This prevents costly equipment restoration and decreased productivity.

The Symbol DS3478 DPM comes standard with bright LEDs and adjustable volumes, eliminating the problem of bad warehouse lighting and clatter. Feedback is immediate with operators clearly able to see and here the scanner. The elimination of such problems prevents workers from losing costly time on the job.

Symbol has provided several options for industrial scanner needs. The Motorola DS3478 DPM presents solutions for the necessary technology to read newer symbols in one dimensional and two dimensional bar codes.
