It has a full keypad design that also allows voice communication. The series allows linear and 2D barcode reading and digital image capture.

The mobile computer Dolphin 9550 delivers unique value and performance for any kind of mobile data-collection application. Their rugged, lightweight, and ergonomic designs help to achieve operational reliability expected in mobile applications like transportation, route accounting, warehousing, field service, industrial/manufacturing, package delivery, and retail.
Equipped with Windows™ Mobile software and Intel™ X-Scale processor, Dolphin 9550 provides the maximum efficiency, usability, and speed. With the high-capacity, lithium-ion hot-swappable battery pack in its high performance system architecture, Dolphin 9550 Series mobile computers can operate longer in a scan-intensive, wireless environment.
In order for providing a seamless voice connectivity and data acquisition between you and your mobile employees, Dolphin 9550 provides a triple-radio for wireless communication through LAN, PAN, and WAN. This feature helps to acquire real-time data anywhere, anytime, while on the move, by communicating to compatible wireless devices, thereby ensuring data security and accuracy and improving the operational efficiency.
Data-capture tools are provided by the integrated Adaptus™ Imaging Technology through which the efficiency of the job is increased, whether it be taking pictures of damaged items, scanning a delivery package, capturing a signature for a receipt proof, or doing an inventory cycle count. The Dolphin 9550 can perform all these tasks and even more, thereby extending the capabilities of the mobile workforce and applications.
