Retail and hospitality environments will benefit from the power, style, and functionality of a new family of robust all-in-one touchcomputers.
Recently, Elo TouchSystems, a part of Tyco Electronics, introduced new versions of its 19R Series All-in-One Touchcomputers. These high-performance versions are all equipped to meet the challenging needs of various point-of-information (POI) sites, including retail stores, and gaming, hospitality, and healthcare environments with a variety of performance options offered through a stylish, sleek package.
Thomas Richardson, Business Development Manager, said that the company’s customers would now be able to enjoy the benefits of a small footprint touchcomputer that boasts of a combination of the company’s strong values and industry-leading performance. He further stated that the 19R touchcomputers are the newest additions to the company’s family of multi-function and reliable touch solutions.
Three powerful configurations of the19R Series have been launched; these configurations fulfill a variety of touch computing needs with different Intel® processors. The 19R1 and 19R2 are aimed at providing interactive digital signage applications and high-quality check-in points and customer registration stations. For regular computing needs, 19R1 is powered with the Atom™ dual-core 1.6GHz processor from Intel, and for high-performance computing needs, 19R2 is powered with the Pentium® 2.6GHz processor also from Intel. The 19MR1 with its UL60601 certification and the Intel processor is apt for use in healthcare and medical environments such as outpatient surgical centers, operating room and radiology control stations, pharmacy automation, and patient registration desks.
The 19R series is available in two versions: one with the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system and the other without an operating system. The company’s Acoustic Pulse Recognition (APR) touch technology is used in all these systems in order to survive the rigors of harsh public systems such as patient bedside entertainment and digital signage controls, customer loyalty systems, Internet access sites, POI systems, and retail display units. The surface area provided by the zero-bezel Acoustic Pulse Recognition screen is almost 100% useable. That is, this design gets rid of the bezel of the regular monitors or the frame, thereby creating a seamless glass surface. This surface facilitates easier maintenance and a brilliant touch experience. This zero-bezel design is quite important in places where it is essential to maintain a clean and disinfected touchscreen.

The latest 15 inch and 19 inch touchmonitors are appropriate for general locations like point-of-information (POI), point-of-sale (POS), point-of-service, two-way programmed signage, loyalty programs, information systems booth, light manufacturing shop-floor computerization and home control. These touchmonitors are designed to endure tough and at times harsh business or general locations where they are utilized by a good number of people. These locations will prove to be too tough for ordinary PC monitors which will eventually break down.
